MODERN DAY DEITIES
Formidable and powerful in any way,
the glaring guns,
the icons celebrated in modern day.
In the right hands,
this malignant apparatus can steal life,
leaving another man gone
and the all knowing in strife.
The Gods are not used to this change in authorization,
for years they have judged
and nothing bothered to question.
In recent times the news seems to say,
a quick click of the trigger,
and bang, their rulings can sway.
Guns are deities that we have adopted.
There’s no need for religion,
we can choose the living from the departed.
